Samsung have teamed up with Google to produce one of the most anticipated phones of the year, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The phone was nicknamed Nexus Prime previously.

The phone will be the first to feature Google’s new version of Android, Android 4.0 “Ice cream sandwich”. This new Android platform has made major improvements on the uniformity and usability of the device.

The phone has a number of new ground breaking features. The first is a feature good face unlock. The phone can be set so that it will only unlock when your face is in front of it. This is trial software so its not bug free at the moment.

There is also a new app called Android beam. Android beam allows you to tap your phone with other Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich devices and share content such as photos, videos and messages.

There is also the ability of the operating system to type your message via voice.

The Samsung Galaxy S 2 has been around for a little while now and has proven to be a massive success for Samsung. The iPhone 4S was released last week, and many followers were disappointed that Apple did not release an iPhone 5 which everyone was expecting them to do. The iPhone 4S however did receive a number of hardware upgrades with the intention of making sure it did not fall behind in the smartphone mark against competition such as the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Now that the specifications of the iPhone 4S have released, it’s time to compare it against the Samsung Galaxy S 2. Lets take a look at the differences.

The iPhone 4S is externally exactly the same as the iPhone 4. The screen on the iPhone is their retina display, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S 2 has a beautiful larger AMOLED display. Both have eight megapixel cameras however the iPhone 4S has excellent sensors.

If Samsung get their way, then they will scuttle Apple iPhone 4S plans to launch in Italy and France. Samsung are seeking court injunctions in France and Italy where they will attempt to block the sale of the iPhone 4S over patent infringements.

Apple and Samsung have been going tit for tat over patent disputes for some time now, but now Samsung is really playing hardball since Apple blocked the sale of their Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 in a number of countries. Apple took Samsung to court in April. They claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab are basically a copy of the iPhone and iPad and posses no originality of its own. The judge in the case agreed to a temporary blocking of sales which has infuriated Samsung. Samsung were on the eve of launching their product in a number of territories, spending hundreds of thousands on advertising campaigns and promotional materials.

There are some positives to come out of the release of the iPhone 4S rather than the iPhone 5. Apple has chose to release iOS 5.0 rather than hold off until the iPhone 5 is released. This means that although we don’t get completely new hardware, we do get completely new software.

The iPhone 4S plans to be the device that introduces the world to iOS 5.0. The operating system includes all the features that were previewed previously with the addition of Siri, the voice assistant.

For all the fans of the iPod, it looks like the release of the iPhone 4S means that there won’t be an iPod hardware refresh for some time. It would have been likely that if there was an iPhone 5 release then the iPod would have been redesigned to match that somewhat. However, with the design staying the same, it now means that the iPods will likely stay the same for some time yet.
